a wedding at the peace barn in bolinas : kristen + chris

I had been looking forward to this wedding all year. You see, Chris is a good friend — someone who I’ve seen through the best of times and the worst — and you always cross your fingers and hope your friends end up with a good one. The day before their wedding, Chris told me I had to keep Kristen on track, explaining that she has a tendency to be late. Chris seemed delighted by this, explaining to me that she’s always late because she easily is distracted by interesting and beautiful things. Like a butterfly floating by or the smell from a bakery or someone she needs to hug.

Kristen’s family is from Bolinas and they were able to have their wedding at the incomparable Peace Barn in Bolinas because of her local roots. There is no place quite like it. A perfect blend of rustic yet completed restored barn, eclectic decor, and the ocean, it is perched on the edge of a bay leading to the ocean. Top that with an all-star crew of vendors including my favorite DJ, Brad Robinson, Laurel of Esla Events, the bride’s best friend Katie Nash as the pro makeup artist, and my awesome assistant photographer Katherine Emery who stayed extra late because she wanted to dance and you have the makings of a great wedding. You still have to put soul into it and that they did. Kristen inherited her father’s unabashed joie de vive and throw your head back laugh. Chris’ brother added in the greatest best man speech I’ve ever heard. Chris, the steady rock, gets an A+ for groom’s involvement in the DIY details (his GoPro video guest book should be patented). Every single member of the wedding party was all in to celebrate and be there for Chris and Kristen.

Did I mention that the hubby Lucas and some other very dear but far-flung friends were at the wedding? Lucky me.
