Generally first dates go a little like this : meeting up for coffee, maybe a hike, going out to dinner. Yvonne and Justin’s first date was an ultra-marathon. Somewhere along the 50 mile route, Yvonne must’ve realized that Justin was really into her if he would run that far to get the girl. Strangely every year seems to have a theme, and for me, 2013 was the year of the outdoor athlete. A big chunk of my clients last year were very serious, competitive athletes. I was contemplating getting everyone together because they would get along so well, possibly setting up a marathon trail run, with the winner receiving a free portrait session for their first baby.
Back to Yvonne and Justin and getting hitched at the always wonderful Mill Valley Outdoor Art Club. There’s a reason why everyone likes this place, it’s quirky, historical, unique, shadowed by redwood trees, right smack in the middle of downtown Mill Valley, yet with some amazing forests, trails, and creeks a short distance away. Yvonne and Justin spent a lot of time with unique details, including a trivia treasure hunt for finding your table, homemade ice cream sandwiches, homemade cake, and much more. They were also chose all local vendors and tried to be as green as possible, making choices that would have as low of an impact on the environment as possible. And the dance party? I was warned about it and it definitely did not disappoint. Special thanks to the wonderful and talented Stan for helping me out with this wedding (some of his contributions are below).
