headlands center for the arts wedding in marin : annie + jeff

Annie and Jeff met working for the same company. When she heard that he played the cello, she approached him one day and asked, “Do you want to get together and play some Brahms with me?” Both accomplished musicians – she plays the piano, he plays the cello plus a bunch of other instruments – they decided that instead of a traditional first dance, it suited them better to have a first duet. This may well be one of my favorite moments in a wedding ever.

I loved how their wedding completely reflected who they were and had a lot of simple and unique details. They asked the flower girls to come in the costume of their choice…and they showed up as Lady Gaga. Donuts from Dynamo Donuts instead of cake. Allowing Chestnut & Vine free rein with unique arrangements for the long family-style stables. QR codes printed on the invitation. Hand-painted candle lanterns that doubled as table numbers.

The weather forecast for the entire week called for storms, and rain it did, seriously pouring down rain and wind. Luckily it was clear enough for a bit of outdoor portraits for Annie + Jeff!  The Headlands Center for the Arts is my new favorite place — uniquely located on the coast of the Marin Headlands in old officer’s barracks, it offers support for artists and for lovers of art.   Even the walls and the latrines are art installations!

See that lemon tree? Best idea for an altar arrangement ever. The tree is meant to be planted in their garden to enjoy always.
